BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS' REGULAR MEETING
Harris Hall Main Floor - 1:30 p.m.
Chair Bobby Green, Sr. presided with Ellie Dumdi, Jerry Rust and Cindy Weeldreyer present. Steve Cornacchia excused. Zoanne Gilstrap, Recording Secretary.
11. COMMISSIONERS' ANNOUNCEMENTS
Green reported that he received a video tape and kit regarding Countdown 2000 from the AOC. He said he has been asked to designate a county coordinator to implement the citizen involvement process.
Dumdi remarked that it sounded like a big job and said she would like to look at the materials. She recommended that this issue be revisited at a future time.
Rust stated that there is going to be a booth at the County Fair. He commented that it was his hope that this booth would feature possible new County logo designs and said he wanted to solicit feedback from the public. Rust viewed this as an excellent opportunity for the County to connect with the public.
Rust also reported that he gave a eulogy for Jesse Nazareth and that Nazareth was the person most responsible for the idea of the Wayne Morris statue. Rust said he will carry on where Nazareth left off and try to get the statue built for placement in front of the courthouse.
Green said the City of Eugene is considering placing a $26 million, five-year serial levy on the ballot.
12. PUBLIC HEARINGS
a. FIFTH READING AND PUBLIC HEARING/Ordinance PA 1086/In the Matter of Amending the Rural Comprehensive Plan to Redesignate Land from "Forest" to "Public Facilities"; Rezoning that Land from "F-2/Impacted Forest Land" to "PF/Public Facilities"; Adopting an Exception to Statewide Planning Goals 3 - Agricultural Land, 4 - Forest Land, 11 - Public Facilities and Services, and 14 - Urbanization; and Adopting Savings and Severability Clauses (Files PA 420-96 & PA 431-96/John Batzer).
Jim Mann stated he was still waiting to hear from the Forest Service on their site selection process. He recommended a sixth hearing in September and asked to set a time and date certain in order to continue that hearing.
Green opened the public hearing. There being no one present who wished to testify, Green closed the public hearing.
MOTION: To carry this item forward and set the sixth reading on September 18, 1996 in Harris Hall at 1:30 p.m.
Rust MOVED. Dumdi SECONDED. VOTE: 4-0.
13. OTHER BUSINESS
There being no further business, this meeting adjourned at 1:54 p.m.
