Commissioner Anna Morrison presided with Commissioners Bill Dwyer, Bobby Green, Sr., Peter Sorenson and Cindy Weeldreyer present.  County Administrator Bill Van Vactor, County Counsel Teresa Wilson and Recording Secretary Zoe Gilstrap were also present.  

 

8. MANAGEMENT SERVICES

 

a. ORDER 01-1-10-5/In the Matter of Ratifying the Tentative Agreement Between Lane County and the Administrative-Professional Association of Lane County Public Works, Inc.

MOTION: Approval of the Order.

 

Dwyer MOVED, Weeldreyer SECONDED.

 

VOTE:  4-1, Morrison dissenting.

 

b. ORDER 01-1-10-6/In the Matter of Ratifying an Amended (Negotiated) Contract Agreement Between Lane County and the Lane County Peace Officer's Association, Inc.

MOTION: Approval of the Order.

 

Dwyer MOVED, Weeldreyer SECONDED.  VOTE:  5-0.

 

9. COMMISSIONERS' ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Dwyer stated that the Association of Oregon Counties gave them packets to take to their legislators regarding priorities.  He said they have a very good delegation. 

 

Weeldreyer stated that she has taken up a Probation and Parole invitation for a ride along on Friday. Weeldreyer stated that she attended a Neighborhood Watch function, noting that it was very well done.  She said she is on the negotiating team for securing a contract with a private provider for the Fiber Optic Consortia.

 

Morrison reminded the Board that Tuesday mornings would still need to be kept open for Board work sessions.  She stated that she will be in Medford tomorrow with Tony Bieda and Marc Kardell regarding SB 1608 and on Friday, she, Weeldreyer and Bieda are going to Salem regarding the same.  She also noted that she and Green went to United Way and signed up for a project.  Morrison noted that Alan Green and Heather Van Vactor are going to be approaching the Management Team about a volunteer endeavor for United Way.

 

Sorenson reported on his experience in a wheelchair for the day, noting several difficulties and obstacles getting around in the building.

 

Green said he received a letter from the State Commission on Children and Families recognizing the work of the Lane County Commission on Children and Families for Phase 1 of SB 555. He stated that this information will be on the OCCF website and used as a model for all commissions in the state. Green also stated that he has asked to serve on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Advisory Committee and will find out later this month if he gets the appointment.  Green noted that Senator Wyden will have a discussion at 8:15 a.m. this Friday, and that the Board has been invited to discuss expectations for this legislative year.
