BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS' REGULAR MEETING
Commissioners’ Conference Room
Commissioner Peter Sorenson presided with Commissioners Bill Dwyer, Bobby Green, Sr., Anna Morrison and Cindy Weeldreyer. Assistant County Counsel Marc Kardell, County Administrator Bill Van Vactor and Recording Secretary Melissa Zimmer were also present.
13. COUNTY COUNSEL
a. SECOND READING AND PUBLIC HEARING Ordinance No. 8-00 Amending Chapter 4 of Lane Code to Revise the Definition of Motor Vehicle Relating to Car Rental Tax (LC 4.205). (NBA & PM 9/27/00)
Marc Kardell, Assistant County Counsel, noted there was a provision in the car rental tax that could be applied to U-Haul trucks. He noted that staff was of the opinion this was not the intention at the time the tax was put into effect. He added it was his opinion the language needed to be cleaned up in the Ordinance to exclude vehicles designed for the transportation of property.
Commissioner Sorenson opened the Public Hearing. There being no one signed up to speak, he closed the Public Hearing.
MOTION: to adopt Ordinance No. 8-00.
Dwyer MOVED, Morrison SECONDED.
Green asked if there had been any written opposition to this.
Kardell responded there was no opposition.
ROLL CALL VOTE: 5-0.

MOTION: to have a report back on the Robo-Cop from the Sheriff’s Office and Public Works regarding abandoned vehicles in the public right-of-way.
Weeldreyer MOVED, Morrison SECONDED.
Green requested in the report the budget direction for the position.
Morrison stated she would be preparing a thank you letter regarding Senate Bill 1608.
There being no further business, Commissioner Sorenson recessed the meeting into Executive Session at 1:40 p.m.
