Welcome to the website of the Community & Economic Development Program of Lane County. We are committed to business development and workforce training, improving water systems, restoring contaminated properties, and developing telecommunications infrastructure.


Highlights

• The Lane County Community & Economic Development department, cities of Eugene and Springfield, and key business leaders and partners have developed economic development strategies for the Eugene‐Springfield Metro Area that will establish a vision for how local , businesses, and community members can work together to achieve economic sustainability. Building Our Next Economy.

• Lane County C&ED and its partners will leverage $155,689 in EDA CTAA funds for a business development and job creation project that will help create and retain family-wage jobs in 14 rural communities in the area that have been significantly impacted by economic downturn. The one-year scope of work consists of three business development and job creation activities: the Economic Gardening program, the Business Development/Mentoring program, and Strategies of Success.

• The county recently received an Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) allowing us to implement a cost-effective renewable energy installation or efficiency project to reduce our carbon footprint by 20 percent  by June 30, 2012. The project began in early 2010 and is slated for completion by the end of 2010.
