This division administers the Law Library in accordance with Oregon statutes. The Library provides legal reference materials and assistance to patrons. It serves attorneys, judges, litigants, and the general public. The Law Library is self-supporting from monies collected by the courts as part of civil litigation filing fees. These fees may only be used in support of Law Library operations. 

Mission Statement:  The Lane County Law Library is dedicated to providing a high-level of service to all members of the community. As part of this mission, the Law Library strives to provide access to legal materials and related resources needed for legal research by members of the bar, the judiciary and the public.

Vision Statement:  The Law Library will be recognized within Lane County as a major contributor to programs providing access to and use of legal resources.

Law Library Newsletter on Hiatus
Due to the retirement of Lane County Law Librarian Linda Falken at the end of July, publication of the law library's newsletter will be suspended indefinitely.  The newsletter will hopefully resume publication in a few months, when a new law librarian is in place.

The library's newsletter has been produced since 1983, at first only periodically and then on a regular basis, starting in 1995.  In 2008 it became exclusively an online publication.  (Please use the link below for an archive of issues going back to 2005.)

Interim Law Library Manager Appointed
The Lane County Law Library will welcome Ms. Christine Phillips on August 2nd.  She will be acting as the Interim Law Library Manager and providing assistance with legal reference and administrative duties while Lane County.   Starting August 2nd, she can be contacted at 541-682-4113 or by using the e-mail link to the left.


Training Classes to Resume After August 10th
The Law Library regular monthly training schedule is being changed.  As of August 10th , one-on-one instruction sessions can be scheduled on demand on most Wednesdays, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.   The Law Library will provide 30 minutes of instruction on any of the following topics: 

Starting with Westlaw 
Advanced Westlaw Use,
Using Shepards Online,
Using HeinOnline to Find Federal Regulations 
Finding Self-Help Web Sites       
And more!
