VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: RESEARCH ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY: Assist Research and Development specialist in tracking juvenile crime trends and evaluating delinquency prevention and treatment programs.
JOB DUTIES: Meet with research and development specialist for project orientation. Assignment will include data entry and may include data analysis, report development and report presentation.
BENEFITS: Actively participate in data collection and computer entry. Volunteer will gain exposure to computer programs, research design in juvenile corrections and report presentation. The volunteer’s participation will assist the department in keeping current in its crime statistics and program evaluation.
EDUCATION TRAINING EXPERIENCE: DYS will provide general orientation and training in the particular project’s research needs. Exposure to research design and computer spreadsheet experience is very helpful.
PERSONAL TRAITS: Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.

Maturity and reliability.

REQUIREMENTS Must be over 21

No felony convictions.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS Supervised by Research and Development coordinator.

Responsible to volunteer program manager.

TIME COMMITMENT: Two to six hours a week for at least three months.
