MCH Program Descriptions
The MCH Program includes services to help families through pregnancy, birth, and early childhood.
- The Babies First! Program identifies children at risk for developmental delays or other health conditions. Nurses provide parents with information to help them overcome or cope with developmental delays and connect with other medical or support services.
- The CaCoon Program helps families with medically fragile infants to care for their children as independently as possible.
-
The Early Childhood Cavities Prevention Program identifies pregnant women and infants at risk for developing cavities and other oral health problems. MCH nurses provide education and support services to improve oral health during home visits.
-
The Maternity Case Management Program is an education and support program for women with social or health concerns during pregnancy and after the birth of their child.
- The Prenatal Assistance Program "Oregon MothersCare" helps families with healthy pregnancies by providing individual education and support to pregnant women, help finding prenatal care, and direct assistance with finding the right services or support within Public Health and in the community.
- The Healthy Start Program assists first time parents in developing strong, nurturing families and healthy, thriving children.
LCPH Nurses work directly with families with special medical or social needs. Nurses support and assist medical foster parents, and provide nursing services as a member of Child Welfare’s Family Support Team. A Nurse at Willamette Family Treatment Services helps women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction to meet their goals for parenting and to access health care.
Public Health is part of the DaTA Institute,a special research partnership with local physicians that will identify the major causes of infant death and use this information to inform health policy making.
