Violence Prevention
The Human Services Commission supports safety from all forms of abuse and prevent violence.
In 2005 the HSC will:
- Consider development of a Public Guardianship program for the disabled.
- Consider development of a teen dating violence prevention and advocacy.
- Consider development of gang prevention and intervention program.
Violence Prevention Services funded by the HSC:
- Domestic Violence Intervention
Provide shelter and emergency services for battered women and children fleeing abusive family members.
- Sexual Assault Intervention | Stabilization
Provide crisis intervention and support services to sexual violence survivors and their families.
- Specialized Services for Children
Provide family support and early intervention services: support, counseling, education, and home visits to families at-risk of child abuse or experiencing child abuse.
- Case Management | Transitional Housing | Domestic Violence
Provide services to increase economic independence and emotional stability services to low-income domestic abuse survivors.
- Sexual Assault Services for Homeless Youth (Safe & Sound)
Provide sexual assault services including access to treatment, information and referrals, and education to homeless runaway and at-risk youth.
- Mental Health Sexual Support Services for Homeless Youth (Safe & Sound)
Provide sexual assault/exploitation information and services including intervention, treatment, and referrals to other Safe & Sound Partners to homeless runaway and at-risk youth.
