PAYMENTS

The Court will accept the following payment options:  cash, cashier's checks, money orders and personal checks.  On all correspondence with the court, please include some type of identification such as a docket number, ticket number, or the name and date of birth of the person whose case is pending at the Justice Court to ensure the monies or information are credited to the correct person.   All checks should be made payable to Central Lane Justice Court.  You should also include your current address and phone number.  If you are requesting a payment agreement, you must include your Social Security Number.

On-line payments will soon be available for clients who wish to pay their current payment on-lin.   You may choose to pay your regularly scheduled payment, select specific court case(s) to pay in full or pay your entire balance.

Credit card payments by phone will only be accepted for payment on cases that have been adjudicated (have a written or in-person plea, with a judgment assigned), e.g., if you are already on a payment plan, you would be able to pay by credit card over the phone during open hours of the court.  Phone 541-682-6524 for credit card payments by phone.

If you wish to set-up an automatic payment of your fine, please check with your bank or credit union to find out how automatic payments may be taken from your account and sent to the Justice Court each month.  This is one way to ensure that you are not late on your payments.

VISA, MasterCard, Discover Card, and debit cards can be taken at the counter with the defendant present in person.

If you are even one day late on a payment, you may be subjected to license suspension and the collection process.  Additional fees will be added.  Please avoid this by making your payment on or before your payment due date.

If you have received a notification from the DMV that your license is going to be suspended, please allow enough processing time for the court and the DMV to process your clearance paperwork to avoid the suspension.  If the DMV does suspend your license, you will be required to pay their reinstatement fee.

If you arrive at CLJC after hours to leave a payment or letter, you will find a drop box to the right of the front door.

Requests for time payment may be made at the counter, in writing by fax or letter, or at open arraignment on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.  The Judge does grant payment arrangements based on individual circumstances.  Your Social Security Number is required on the time payment request form.  If you do not provide your Social Security Number, a payment agreeement will not be granted, and the entire amount will be due immediately.

If you are unable to make your payment on the scheduled due date, and you need an extension or new time payment agreement, submit your explanation of extenuating circumstances to the Judge in writing by mail or fax to 541-744-1190 prior to the date that your payment is due.  Please include your Social Security Number on your request.  The mailing address is 220 5th Street, Springfield, OR 97477.  If you submit a letter instead of appearing in person, the Judge reads all letters and acts on them as if you had appeared in court.

If you have been notified that your case has been turned over to Professional Credit Services, please contact them directly for the current amount due, or to make payment arrangements.  Their phone number is 541-343-5641 or 800-972-1635.

Important: You CANNOT file paperwork or make pleas by emailing to the webmaster or justice courts, and these types of contacts DO NOT constitute an appearance by a defendant OR a written explanation. You must contact the specific court in writing through standard mail, or appear in court.
