Marriage Licenses are issued from 9:00am to 11:45am and from 1:00pm to 3:45pm

Monday through Friday

Oregon state law requires that applicants be at least 17 years of age to obtain a marriage license.  Applicants who are17 must have parental consent.  Consent may be in the form of a notarized statement from a parent, or a parent must be present with the applicant to sign a consent form.

A witness is not required to apply; however, you should be prepared to present proof of age on request. A driver's license or birth certificate is adequate for this purpose.

Neither a medical examination nor a blood test is required.

On the marriage license application you will need to complete the following information for both the bride and groom:

• Address
• Date of Birth
• Place of Birth
• Father’s Name
• Father’s place of birth
• Mother’s Maiden Name
• Mother’s place of birth
• If either party has been married before, you will need to know the ending date of the last marriage.

The cost of a marriage license is $60.00, which is non-refundable .  We accept personal checks, money orders or cash; we do not accept debit or credit cards.

The license becomes effective, and may be used no sooner than three days after the date of application.  You may apply to waive this three-day waiting period.  To do so, you must fill out a waiver request form and pay a $4.00 waiver fee and the $60.00 marriage license fee in cash. 

Once issued, the marriage license is valid for 60 days and may be used anywhere in the State of Oregon.

Ordering a Certified Copy of Your Marriage License

If your marriage license was issued by Lane County, we can provide you with a certified copy.  To order, complete and print the fillable pdf form and mail to the address below along with a check for $7.75 for the first certified copy, plus $4.00 for each additional certified copy.  You will need to include the following information in your request so that we can process your order as quickly as possible:

• Groom's name
• Bride's name (as it appeared on the marriage license)
• Date of your marriage
• Your return address

The certified copy or copies will be returned to you by mail.  Requests are typically fulfilled within 2 - 3 business days of receipt.
