Lane County just finished putting the finishing touches on a new Recycler’s Handbook. According to the most recent figures, Lane County had the 4
th highest recovery rate in the state. The average Lane County citizen recycles just over 13-hundred pounds of material per year.
“We’re obviously very proud to work with a community that is so committed to recycling,” said Pete Chism of Lane County Public Works. “But there’s still a lot of material that’s being thrown away, simply because a lot of people don’t realize it can be recycled. We’re hoping this new handbook will cut into some of that unnecessary waste, as well as explain exactly how the recycling process works here in Lane County.”
The handbook includes information on how to prepare recycle materials, what happens to those materials, recycling facts, home composting, household hazardous waste management, electronics recycling, asbestos disposal, and much more.
