Today, applesauce producer Materne announced they are not selecting a location in Coburg for their new applesauce processing facility. Lane County had been in discussion with Materne and the owner of the proposed site for several months. The project went under the name “Project Squeeze” before going public in September.

“We established Lane County as a place that welcomes the food production industry, and as a result, we have received inquiries from other interested companies,” said Glenda Poling, manager of Lane County’s Community and Economic Development. “I am optimistic about other economic development opportunities.”

“Despite this setback, we still accomplished something great. We worked effectively with all of our partners from the State and the Governor’s office to the City of Coburg and local authorities. We put together a strong proposal that was right for Lane County residents,” said Sid Leiken, Chair of the Lane County Board of Commissioners. “I applaud all of the hard work from our economic development team to get Materne this far.”
