Contacts: ACT Project Manager Rob Zako, 541-343-5201; Lane County Transportation Planning & Traffic Division Manager Celia Barry, 541-682-6935
What: The Forum on an ACT for Lane County (FACT-LC), which is charged with developing proposed bylaws for the Lane County ACT, is meeting.
When: 5:30-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 10. A final meeting will be held on April 14. Then recommendations will go to the Board of County Commissioners and the Oregon Transportation Commission for final approval.
Where: ODOT Offices, 644 North A St., Springfield
Why: If you have an interest in the future of Lane County's transportation system and how it affects our quality of life, you should comment on proposed bylaws for the ACT.
The Oregon Department of Transportation divides the state into 12 areas. Most areas already have Area Commissions on Transportation, or ACTs. Now Lane County is getting its own ACT together. ACTs are advisory bodies to the Oregon Transportation Commission. ACTs can look at all aspects of the transportation system: policies, major projects, congestion, safety, intermodal linkages, freight, relation to development, health issues, or environmental impacts. ACTs also look at all modes of transportation: air, marine, rail, roadway, transit, bicycle and pedestrian. Lane County does not yet have an ACT. The FACT-LC, formed by the Lane County Board of Commissioners, is working to form one and discussing what issues the ACT will address, membership of the ACT, and how the ACT will function.
WHO: YOU and other Lane County stakeholders are invited to review proposed bylaws for the ACT and to offer comments about issues important to address, and who to involve. Oral comments will be accepted during the meeting; written comments can be submitted in advance.
