MEDIA ADVISORY- Market District Development Event Today
What: Public input session on Market District development in downtown Eugene. This is an opportunity for community members to meet with developers and provide feedback on design criteria for a major new addition to downtown Eugene.
When: Elected officials will be available from 2 - 3 p.m. today. The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.
Who: Elected officials, including Lane County Commissioners and Eugene City Councilors have been invited to attend from 2 – 3 p.m. Representatives from HACSA and Obie Companies will also be available to answer any questions about the project.
Where: Gravel lot across Pearl street from 5th Street Public Market. Look for the tents. Free parking available.
Why: HACSA and Obie Companies are seeking public input on how the new Market District development should look and feel. This is an important part of creating a space the community will embrace and enjoy.
The new development is a collaboration with Obie Companies, HACSA, and Lane County. The development will include workforce housing units in addition to a vibrant retail complex, condos, and apartments. The land being developed is owned by Lane County and will be under a long-term lease to Obie Companies and HACSA, providing revenue for the County for years to come.
