For the Week of August 17, 2014

Major road construction is scheduled for the week of August 17, weather permitting. Use caution in work zones and obey traffic control signage and flaggers. Links to additional project information can be found at www.keepusmoving.info.

CITY OF EUGENE:

1st Avenue W. (Van Buren St. to Washington St.): Work continues on excavation and pouring of concrete for new sidewalk ramps at intersections, with some work on Monroe Street as well. Minimal traffic impact is expected but watch for lane shifts. Watch for flaggers.

th Avenue W. (Garfield St. to Polk St.): Work continues this week reconstructing sidewalk ramps and curb and gutter. The contractor may begin reconstructing the south side of the street between Garfield and Chambers streets by the end of the week Expect lane and parking closures around the work. 30
th Avenue E. (at University St.): Contractor will continue work near 30th Avenue and University Street. Expect periodic lane restrictions and sidewalk closures. Watch for construction traffic.

43
rd Avenue E. (Dillard Rd. to N. Shasta Loop): Contractor will be placing the new asphalt concrete wearing course. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers during work hours. Watch for construction traffic.

46
th Avenue E. (Willamette to Donald): Final paving of 46th Avenue is scheduled for the week of August 25 and should take one to two days. One lane will remain open for local access during the paving. Traffic will be limited to traveling from Willamette Street toward Donald Street (one way, eastbound).

Amazon Bike Path (at 24
th Ave.): Repair and maintenance work in the Amazon Channel will begin adjacent to the bike path. Watch for construction traffic.

Amazon Parkway (24
th Ave. to 27th Ave.): Contractor will continue work near 24th Place. Expect periodic lane restrictions and watch for construction traffic.

Broadway E. (Pearl St. to Franklin Blvd.):
Paving has been delayed to late August or early September.

Coburg Road (Ferry Street Bridge to railroad crossing overpass):
The concrete lanes are completed. Expect one more night of lane closures to restripe the new lane lines.

Dillard Road (E. Amazon Dr. to E. 43
rd Ave.): Contractor will be placing the new asphalt concrete wearing course. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers during work hours. Watch for construction traffic.

Donald Street (46
th Ave. to Fox Hollow): Sidewalk work is 50% complete. Final paving at 46th Avenue is scheduled for the week of August 25 and should only take a day or two. One lane will remain open for local access during the paving. Traffic will be limited to traveling from Willamette Street toward Donald Street (one way, eastbound).

Fern Ridge Multi-Use Path (Chambers St. to Hayes St.):
The portion of the path through Garfield Park is closed for an extended period of time to allow trucks and equipment to access the Amazon Creek Stabilization and Enhancement project. Cyclists and pedestrians are detoured onto 15th Avenue between Chambers and Garfield streets.

Firland Boulevard (Spring Blvd. to N. Shasta Loop):
Contractor will be placing the new asphalt concrete wearing course. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers during work hours. Watch for construction traffic.

Goodpasture Island Bridge (at Goodpasture Island Rd. and Delta Hwy.):
Southbound lanes of Delta Highway from Randy Pape Beltline Highway to Goodpasture Island Road off-ramp will be closed for one night, August 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to prepare for median construction. The Goodpasture Island Road southbound on-ramp will remain open for vehicles turning from Goodpasture Island Road to southbound Delta Highway. The off-ramp from eastbound Beltline to southbound Delta Highway will be closed at Beltline, and traffic exiting westbound Beltline at Delta Highway will be required to turn right. Northbound Delta Highway will remain open but drivers will be required to use the off- and on-ramps at Goodpasture Island to portage around the construction zone. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.

Green Acres Road
(Applewood Ln. to Delta Oaks Dr.): Contractor will begin electrical work at the new pedestrian island. Watch for construction traffic.

Hatton Avenue (at Evergreen Dr.):
Contractor will be mobilizing equipment into the neighborhood in preparation for upcoming pipe work. Watch for construction traffic.

Olive Street (11
th Ave. to 13th Ave.): Paving has been delayed due to the adjacent private development. Paving is tentatively rescheduled to late August or early September. Reader board signs will be placed five days in advance of the paving.

Olive Street (between 12
th Avenue and 13th Avenue): Street and sidewalks are closed due to apartment building construction. More information can be found at www.eugene-or.gov/CapstoneClosures

River Road (Maxwell Rd. to Rosetta Ave.):
Watch for construction traffic as work continues near Hatton Avenue.

Shasta Loop N. (43
rd Ave. to Firland Blvd.): Contractor will be placing the new asphalt concrete wearing course. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers during work hours. Watch for construction traffic.

West Bank Path (at Copping Ave.):
Contractor will continue excavation in the natural area west of the path between Maynard Avenue and Copping Avenue. Watch for construction traffic.

City of Eugene Slurry Seal Project on various streets.
Rain this week has caused the contractor’s schedule to slip. Phase 1 streets (originally scheduled for August 21) will receive slurry treatment on Friday, August 22. Affected residents will be notified no later than Tuesday evening. No-parking signs will be in place to remind people of the road closure.
Phase 1 streets are:
  • A portion of Josh Street
  • West half of Pam Street
  • Strathmore Place, west of Brittany St.
  • West end of Chaucer Street
  • Greiner Street, south of 2364
  • Shelton Avenue
  • Broadview Sstreet, between Sunrise and Hawkins streets

City of Eugene Public Works road maintenance, at various locations:

LANE TRANSIT DISTRICT:

West Eugene EmX Project:
During daytime hours, travel on Charnelton Street between West 7th and 8th Avenues may be restricted to one southbound lane and on-street parking may be closed while crews relocate utilities.

SPRINGFIELD:
S. 2nd Street (S. ‘A’ St. to S. ‘E’ St.): Construction continues on the replacement of a sanitary sewer pipe. Lanes on South 2nd from South ‘A’ to South ‘E’ streets are reduced to one way traffic. Be prepared for delays and flaggers directing traffic.

S. Franklin Boulevard in the Glenwood area (from the intersection with Franklin Blvd. to E. 19
th Ave.): Construction continues on the installation of a new sewer pipe. Both lanes of S. Franklin Boulevard from the intersection with Franklin Boulevard to E. 19th Avenue are closed. Access to local residences and businesses is allowed, but expect some delays. Local and business traffic should follow detour signs on Henderson Street and 19th Avenue for access within the closure.

S. 70
th Street (from the intersection of Main St. to Jessica Dr.): Paving will begin August 25, weather permitting. Lanes on South 70th Street from Main Street to Jessica Drive will be reduced to one way traffic. Be prepared for delays and flaggers directing traffic.

LANE COUNTY:

Central Road, Veneta (
Hwy 126, mile post 0.00 to south of Petzold Road, mile post 3.50): Construction activity will include roadway and driveway paving. Road will remain open but traffic will be controlled by flaggers, as necessary. Expect minimal delays.

Davisson Road, (m
ile post 3.5, near Hwy 99 on south end of Davisson Rd.): Traffic will be controlled with the use of flaggers while crews work on embankment repair. Delays can occur in flagging areas for up to 20 minutes. Temporary traffic control lights will be in use when construction crews are not on site.

Hager Road (at
mile post 1, near the ECM on Hager Rd.): Traffic will be controlled with the use of flaggers while crews work on culvert replacement. Delays can occur in flagging areas for up to 20 minutes.

Jasper-Lowell Road, Lowell
(at mile post 8.51): A new roof is being installed on the Unity Covered Bridge. There will be up to four (4) two-hour closures during the project, but generally the bridge will remain open to traffic, with traffic controlled by flaggers as necessary. Expect minimal delays.

Knight Road, Veneta (
Hwy 126, mile post 0.06 to Sheffler Road, mile post 3.89): Construction activity will include roadway paving. Road will remain open but traffic will be controlled by flaggers, as necessary. Expect minimal delays.

Layng Road, Cottage Grove (at mile post 0.20 from Mosby Creek Rd.):
Mosby Creek covered bridge is closed until September 15 for rehabilitation project. Traffic should use Row River Road or Mosby Creek Road.

Place Road, Fall Creek (mile post 0.0 to 0.1):
Pengra Covered Bridge is closed for the duration of a roofing project. Place Road is scheduled to be closed at Pengra Covered Bridge from August 11 through September 22. Traffic will detour onto Jasper-Lowell Road.

LANE COUNTY CHIPSEAL PROGRAM:
Chip seal will be applied depending on weather and materials availability. Watch for flaggers. Expect 15 minute delays or seek alternate routes at these locations:
