Road Report Week of 07/21/2013
Major road construction is scheduled for the week of July 21, weather permitting. Use caution in work zones and obey traffic control signage and flaggers. Links to additional project information can be found at
CITY OF EUGENE:
5th Avenue (Blair Blvd. to High St.): 5th Avenue is not scheduled for any road closures this week.
10th Avenue (Jefferson St to Washington St.): Closed for construction this week. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the work zone
18th Avenue (Westmoreland to Tyler St): This section will be closed for reconstruction through July 28, including the intersection at Polk St. Through traffic travelling between Washington St and Chambers St should use 11th Ave/13th Ave, 24th Ave or 28th Ave. Please use caution if using neighborhood streets as an alternate route.
Airport (Parking lot and covered walkway): A portion of the long term parking lot is currently barricaded and travelers should not park in areas closed for construction.
Alder Street (18th Ave. to 24th Ave): Reconstruction of sidewalk access ramps will continue. Ramps at the southeast portion of street intersections are scheduled to be worked on. Curb and gutter repairs will also occur at various locations along Alder.
Barger Drive (Terry Street to West Irwin): Construction of a new wastewater line in Barger Drive is scheduled to begin on July 29. Barger Drive from Terry Street to West Irwin will be closed to all traffic, 24 hours a day, from August 5th to August 16th.
Blair Boulevard (2nd Ave. to Monroe St.): 2nd Avenue to Van Buren Street is scheduled to begin reconstruction July 22 and will be closed for approximately 2 weeks. Sidewalk and pedestrian access will be available to all businesses during construction.
Broadway (Jefferson St. to Washington St.): Closed for construction this week. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the work zone.
Coburg Rd (Chad Dr to County Farm Rd): Contractor will be lowering manholes and reconstructing sidewalk ramps resulting in lane closures and sidewalk detours throughout the project. Watch for workers and equipment in the street and expect delays.
Echo Hollow (Dove to Royal): Crews will be crack sealing in this location. Expect minor delays. Flaggers will be onsite.
Empire Park (Dove to Barger): An overlay is schedule Tuesday this week. The road will be closed to traffic. Flaggers will be onsite. Expect delays.
Hilyard Street (Broadway to 13th Ave): Reconstruction of sidewalk access ramps will continue on the east side of Hilyard at 12th Avenue. Anticipate lane closures for pavement repairs and concrete work.
Irvington Drive and Willowbrook neighborhood (Lancaster to Hyacinth): Storm water utility improvements continue this week. During work hours Willowbrook Street may be closed. Residents will have access to their driveways but should expect delays.
Olive Street (11th Ave. to 10th Ave.): Excavation and concrete paving continues, causing lane closures. Northbound travel will be maintained. Access to the Kiva Grocery store will be via Olive Alley off of 11th Avenue. Olive Street between 10th Avenue and Broadway will be closed by midweek.
Olive Street (between 12th Avenue and 13th Avenue): Street and sidewalks are closed due to apartment building construction. More information can be found at
Polk Street (12th to 18th): Crews will be crack sealing in this location. Expect minor delays. Flaggers will be onsite.
Van Buren Street (Blair Blvd. to 3rd Avenue): No road closures are scheduled until final lift paving. Residents and businesses will be given at least 5 days’ notice prior to any major work.
30th Avenue, Eugene area (McVay Hwy. to Spring Blvd): Construction activity will continue Monday through Thursday. The Spring Boulevard and Gonyea Road (LCC) on and off ramps to 30th Avenue, as well Eldon Schafer Drive will be closed at various times throughout the week. Closures notices will be posted on message boards at various locations throughout the construction zone. Motorists will have access to LCC either via Eldon Schafer Drive or the Gonyea Road (LCC) exits at all times. Traffic delays should be minimal.
Bailey Hill Road, Eugene area (Bertelsen Rd. to Lorane Hwy.): Construction activity will continue with paving driveways, placing shoulder rock and adjusting guardrail. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers. Exercise care around construction activity.
Hyacinth Street, Eugene area (Calla St. to Irvington Dr.): Contractor will continue to excavate existing curb and driveways and pour concrete sidewalks and driveways. Traffic will be controlled with the use of flaggers, as necessary. Exercise care around construction activity.
Santa Clara Area (Northwest Eugene):
Construction activity is scheduled to begin July 25 primarily north of Maxwell Road and east of River Road. Contractor will be cleaning and sealing cracks in the roadway surface. Exercise care around the construction activity.
ALVADORE / W. EUGENE: Chip seal will be applied depending on weather and materials availability. Watch for flaggers. Expect 15 minute delays or seek alternate routes at these locations:
