Vacancy on Lane County Budget Committee
Contacts: Lane County Public Information Officer Anne Marie Levis, 541-915-4659
Interested in helping Lane County make critical decisions about the County budget? Lane County is looking for applicants for the budget committee.
The budget committee reviews and approves the proposed budget, limits levied taxes, and establishes tentative maximum amounts that can be spent for each fund in the County budget. The committee is comprised of the five Lane County Commissioners and five residents, one from each commissioner’s district.
‘It's vital that we have a citizen perspective on the Budget Committee. Oregon law requires five citizens on our budget committee and we want to make sure that the public is fully involved in the process,” said Lane County Commissioner Pete Sorenson. “By having 60 day period for applications we're hoping to get a number of excellent volunteers.”
Paper applications are available and should be submitted to the Board of Commissioner’s office in the basement level of the Public Service Building at 125 East 8th Avenue in Eugene. To request an application by mail, please call 541-682-4203. Applications can also be downloaded at http://www.lanecounty.org/departments/bcc/pages/advisorycommittees.aspx.
Applicants for this open position must be from the third County Commission district. Anyone interested in applying has 60 days from today to submit their application.
