Join Lane County, Friends of Buford Park, volunteers and local businesses as we celebrate National Trails Day at Buford Park on Saturday, June 7th.
“We will be celebrating one of our most popular parks. This is an opportunity to see new trails that were built with thousands of volunteer hours and with support from local government and business,” said Mike Russell, Lane County Parks Division Manager. “This is a great example of business, government, nonprofits and volunteers coming together to enhance our community.”
Friends of Buford Park is planning several events at the park, beginning at 9 a.m. Events include guided hikes, a ribbon cutting to open the new trails on Mt. Pisgah’s north side and other celebrations. Please contact Friends of Buford Park for more details:www.bufordpark.org/tours.
The new trails were built with assistance from Friends of Buford Park, Lane County Parks, youth crews from Lane County’s Youth Services Department, the Oregon State Parks’ Recreational Trail Program and REI Eugene. The trails reroute visitors around sensitive habitats while still providing access to wildflowers and prairie habitats.
