Police Services to Reduce Reception Hours
Contact: Jonna Hill, Lane County Police Services Division Support Services manager, 682-6689
Lane County Sheriff’s Office Police Services Division is reducing its reception operating hours due to impending budget cuts.
Beginning June 2, front counter hours at central reception will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Current hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Additionally, central reception will be moving to a numbering system to help manage customer requests. Customers will be required to take a number and wait for service until their number is called. This also means central reception will be monitoring the backlog of customers waiting for service and may stop issuing numbers before 5 p.m. in order to avoid incurring overtime for front counter staff.
"In light of our impending budget cuts, we have had to make difficult decisions involving how we will do business with less staff," said Jonna Hill, Police Services Division Support Services manager. "We realize this change eliminates five hours of access time weekly for the public and that some customers may have to return at another time. We have not made this decision lightly, however, we are reducing the number of front counter staff from 4 to 3 and have no choice but to adjust the service we are able to provide as a result of that reduction."
Central Reception serves as the hub for community members needing:
Concealed Handgun Licensing/Renewal
Public Fingerprinting Services
Federal Firearms Transfers
OLCC Licensing/Renewals
Fireworks Permits
Sex Offender Registrations
Court Ordered Photos and Fingerprinting
Civil Process Intake, including the intake of Restraining & Stalking Orders
Impounded Vehicle Release
Police Report Requests
Background Checks
And all other public business with the Sheriff's Office
