Lane County Hires New Public Works Director
Contacts: County Administrator Jeff Spartz; Marsha Miller, 682-5224
Lane County has hired its new Public Works Director Marsha Miller. Miller joins us from the City of Eugene where she served as Division Manager for Building and Permit Services. Miller oversaw all aspects of the Division, including building inspection, permit review and issuance, land use, zoning and nuisance enforcement, business licensing, and the solid waste and recycling program. She managed a $7.5 million dollar budget and transitioned the Division's operations to be mostly supported through enterprise funding rather than general fund support.
Miller attended Kent State University, Lane Community College, and the University of Oregon. She’s also served on the Eugene Family YMCA Board of Directors and on the Lane County Resource Recovery Advisory Committee.
"Miller’s education and experience in management, employee relations, performance management, cultural and diversity training among other qualifications will make her a great fit as Director of Lane County Public Works," said County Administrator Jeff Spartz.
Miller was selected after an extensive search to replace long-time Public Works Director Ollie Snowden. Miller will join the Lane County team effective June 2.
" I started my public service career at Lane County so in some ways it’s like coming home. There are huge challenges ahead in terms of sustaining funding and services. I look forward to working with Lane County staff and the Commissioners as we face those challenges of funding valuable services for the citizens we serve."
