Waste Management Expands Service Hours to Encourage Proper Disposal of Hazardous Waste
Contact: Larry Gibbs, Lane County Special Waste Specialist, 682-3899
Nice weather means cleaning out your garage or shed. If you’ve got old paint, solvents, fuels or pesticides, Lane County Waste Management asks you to not throw them in the trash.
"These products are considered hazardous waste and need to be properly disposed of," said Larry Gibbs, Lane County Special Waste Specialist. "To help the community keep these materials out of the landfill, we’re expanding our hours to provide this free disposal service."
Community members who need to rid their garages, sheds, and your home of hazardous waste materials may call 682-3111 to make an appointment to visit their Glenwood Hazardous Waste Facility at 3100 East 17th Ave., in Glenwood.
During the first full week of June, July and August the facility will be open Monday through Saturday to better serve the community. Normal days for disposal are every Thursday and two Saturdays per month, by appointment only. Waste Management also does 5-6 mobile hazardous and electronics waste collections per year throughout Lane County.
Disposal of hazardous materials is a free public service. For more information call 682-3111 or go to www.lanecounty.org.
