Lane County Recognized for Its Comprehensive Financial Reporting

For a fifth consecutive year, Lane County’s Financial Services Division is receiving recognition for its excellence in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Lane County by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the year ending June 30, 2007.

The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to a letter the County received from GFOA.

"This consistent recognition of excellence over the last five years shows that even during times of fiscal constraint, we remain accountable to our citizens," said Commissioner Bobby Green.

Lane County’s CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving 16,000 government finance professionals.
