Lane County recovered 243,561 tons of material in 2005 -- enough to fill Autzen Stadium over 7 times.

The average Lane County citizen recycles 1,320 pounds of material per year.

The 2004 Lane County Fair achieved a 72% recycling rate.

Lane County Public Works, Waste Management Division diverts waste from Short Mountain Landfill by offering a wide variety of options in waste reduction, reuse and recycling.  From disposal appointments for difficult items like chemicals and computers to education programs for schools and groups .  Our commitment to waste reduction is reflected by Lane County's 53.7% recovery rate.
