Acceptable as scrap metal - no fee: stoves, water heaters, toasters and other small appliances without motors.
Acceptable as scrap metal if motors are removed: washers, dryers, dishwashers.
Accepted for fee only - no exceptions: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and other appliances having compressors/freon, whether or not freon has been removed. Also washers and dryers with motors still attached.

Preparation: Separate by type. Handle with care, acid will burn bare skin.
Acceptable: Nickel-cadmium, mercury, lithium, lead acid car batteries.
Unacceptable: Alkaline batteries sold in Oregon after 1996. Throw theses away as trash. (Alkaline batteries sold before 1996, or those that may contain mercury, are acceptable in this collection program.)

Acceptable: All corrugated cardboard (three-ply with visible wavy layer inside) and brown paper shopping bags.
