Street trees provide aesthetic value to our streets and neighborhoods. Street trees also provide for  shade, wildlife habitat  public enjoyment during all the seasons of the year in Lane County.   While street trees provide for numerous benefits, they also can produce conflicts with our road systems, sidewalks and public safety if they are not planted in the right place, or if they become diseased or damaged.  Lane County Department of Public Works has developed a County approved street tree of trees that are preffered for planting in areas adjacent to roads and sidewalks.  We have also included on our tree list, other trees that are good for open areas with no conflicts with above ground utilities or other urban constraints.  These larger trees should only be planted in areas where they can be allowed to grow without producing maintenance conflicts as the tree grows to it's mature size.

Tree Voucher Program

Lane County Department of Public Works, Vegetation Division has created a Tree Voucher program to assist property owners with replacement trees when County crews remove trees in front of your property.  Lane County does not provide the tree stock, but what we offer is a Tree Voucher valued at $50.00 provided to property owners that can be used a participating nurseries within Lane County.  Lane County will provide vouchers to property owners who request a voucher and meet County requirements for replacement, and we will also provide directions on where and where not to plant tress, water and plating guidelines.  Tree purchased at participating nurseries need to be selected from the Lane County tree list as these trees have been selected minimize future conflcist in the urban environment.  If you have any questions regarding this program, you can contact the Vegetation Management Coordinator, or click on the links below for further information.
