WEED ALERT
Noxious Weeds and Invasive species are attacking our waterways, wildlife and native plant communities in Lane County.  Lane County Department of Public Works is fighting back to limit the spread and establishment of these invaders, but we need your help.  Through education and outreach we can work together as neighbors to preserve the beauty and safety of our Lane County road systems and natural areas.

How You Can Help Stop These Weeds.
Noxious weed and Invasive Species are a "growing" problem in Lane County, and the State of Oregon.  The first step to combat this "growing" problem is the ability to recognize noxious and invasive weed species, and spread that information to others.  Lane County Department of Public Works has developed ten educational flyers to help the public learn how to identify some of our worst weeds, and provide a few reccomendations to assist in reducing these pesky plants.

ºLearn to Identify noxious weeds and Invasive species.

º Educate your friends and neighbors.

º Clean clothing and footwear if you have been in an area infested with noxious weeds, to limit seed dispersal.

º Report noxious weeds to the proper management agency.

º Clean your vehicle when possible after traveling in an area infested with noxious weeds.

º Do not plant noxious weeds or invasive plant species for landscaping purposes.

Need to report a Noxious Weed Location ?
Lane County Department of Public works encourages people to report Noxious weed and Invasive species locations, so that we can make efforts to manage areas infested with weeds.  We only need a little information when you report a site.

1. What weed species are you reporting, you may also provide a description to our staff if you are not certain what plant it is.

2. Where is the location of the weed you are reporting, you can provide an address, intersection or mile marker on a road.

3. What is the size of the population, you can estimate acres, feet or number of plants.  This will assist us in locating the population and assist in future management efforts.
