This class is a hands-on guide through your computer and the Internet.  You will learn what your kids already know about the Internet.  No prior computer skills necessary!  The class is open to any interested person 18 years of age or older. 

Classroom topics include:

  • Computer hardware and software basics
  • Windows basics and finding hidden files
  • Getting connected to the Internet
  • Internet addressing
  • Newsgroups, Blogs, Myspace, etc.
  • E-Mail
  • Hacking
  • ID theft and protecting your privacy
  • Setting rules and expectations
  • Copyright issues
  • Internet Fraud
  • Sex Crimes - including methods used by sexual predators to locate and manipulate their victims
  • Internet Chat (instructors will go online live as a child and let you see what your children may experience)
  • Filtering, blocking, and monitoring internet activity with software and using Parental Controls
  • Searching the Internet for information on you and your family
  • Searching your computer to see what your children have been doing

Must be over 18 years old to attend due to nature of the material.

Parking & Driving Directions:
Parking is available in the Overpark Garage at 10th and Oak.  Students can purchase parking validation coupons from the Downtown Center.
