Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Information

Reserve deputies provide volunteer law enforcement services of a temporary nature under the supervision and control of regular employees of the Sheriff’s Office. Reserve deputies are sworn and possess full deputy authority. Their purpose is to provide the Office with sworn volunteers, trained to support its members in their respective duties. Reserve deputies normally work along with a regular deputy and may be assigned other duties for which they are deemed qualified and for which a need exists.

Applicant must be 21 years of age by time of appointment, have no felony convictions, and must be able to pass a written exam, physical agility test, oral board, and psychological evaluation and a physicians exam in addition to a complete background check.

After acceptance, applicant must successfully complete the reserve academy, and will be required to donate at least 24 hours per month, which includes a monthly meeting and mandatory training.
