Sheriff's Police Records Unit

****As of February 28th, 2009 we have reduced our phone hours due to staffing reductions. You can reach a Records Officer directly Mon-Fri 11am - 6pm (excluding legal holidays) and on Saturday from 11am-3pm. Outside of those hours, you can find information posted here on our website. The Records Unit consists of Police Records, Civil Records, Concealed Handgun licensing and Central Reception.  This Unit processes and maintains accurate law enforcement records for public inspection, crime analysis, investigation, apprehension, prosecution and statutory and contractual requirements, including state and federal agencies. 

Records issues various licenses and permits,  photographs and fingerprints (mug-and-print) individuals as ordered by the courts, and provides fingerprinting services for the general public and provides warrant processing for Oregon State Police.

Calendar Year 2008 Operations

  • processed and performed data entry on 10,376 police reports and 27,680 traffic citations
  • handled 36,090 incoming phone calls
  • entered and assumed responsibility for 1085 new restraining orders and 372 new stalking orders
  • received and performed data entry on 3,733 warrants, for an average of 311 warrants per month

                        >>this is an overall increase of 8% from 2007

                        >>the highest month was August with 418 received/processed

                        >>as of the end of January 2009, 955 warrants from 2008 remained active

  • processed 48 out-of-state extraditions
  • issued 1,427 new Concealed Handgun Licenses (CHL’s)

                  >>there are currently over 11,000 CHL holders in Lane County

  • processed 1,130 CHL renewals
  • produced 8,253 fingerprint cards for the public
  • registered 228 sex offenders
  • processed 102 Federal Firearms Transfers
  • processed 8,589 civil papers (subpoenas, small claims, court ordered evictions, etc)

 

 

 

 

 

Fiscal Year 2009-10 Objectives

  1. Provide prompt, courteous and professional service to both our internal and external customers.
  2. Begin work to make public information more accessible to the public and news media; i.e., Internet.
  3. Develop an online (electronic) system for the public to file police reports.
  4. Accurately process and enter missing and wanted person, warrants, citations, stolen property, police reports and other record-keeping information into records and computer systems, meeting department, state and federal requirements.
  5. Process criminal subpoenas, civil notices, vehicle impounds and protective orders in a timely and accurate manner and with a helpful attitude toward the courts and public.
