Report Illegal Dumping

Lane County’s Nuisance Abatement Program cleans up illegal dump
sites along County-maintained roads and on County property.   When identified, violators face civil citations and may be ordered to pay the cost of cleaning up the site.  Help us preserve Lane County’s natural beauty by reporting illegal dumping on County right-of-way.

Reporting Instructions

  1. Record the date, time, and exact address where you have seen illegal dumping. This information will help us find the site so we can clean it up and begin enforcement action against the illegal dumper.

  2. Write down the license plate number and vehicle description if possible. It is also important to try to remember a physical description of the people or person who you saw dumping illegally.

  3. Do not touch or remove anything! Make a list of or photograph all the items that have been dumped to help us prepare for the cleanup. Thorough details will also help us prosecute.

  4. The penalty for illegal waste dumping depends on what was discarded. However, the maximum fine is $2000, and the court may order convicted dumpers to pay for the cost of cleanup.

  5. To report a dump site on a road maintained by Lane County, call Lane County Waste Management Division at 541-682-4533. To report dump sites inside a city, please contact the city (look in the Dex blue pages). To report dump sites along a state or federal highway, contact the Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem at 888-275-6368.
