Road Report: July 23-29

Major road construction is scheduled for the week of July 23, weather permitting. Use caution in work zones and obey traffic control signs and flaggers.


LANE COUNTY:


Bob Straub Parkway (at Mt. Vernon Rd.):  Newly installed Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) and Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon (RRFB) will be activated to improve safety for crossing Bob Straub Parkway at the Mt. Vernon intersection.  Motorists should be aware of the new signal and expect that it may be activated by users, which will require motorists to stop at the intersection when in use. 

Elmira Neighborhood: Crack seal crews will be preparing Lane County roads for an upcoming chipseal. Watch for "No Parking" signs. Expect flaggers and minimal delays.

Lorane Road, Cottage Grove (Milepost 11.5): Culvert work is scheduled to begin this week. A one-lane bypass road, controlled by flaggers, will be in use continuously until the work is complete.


Gilham Road (Ayers Rd. to Ashbury Dr.):
Road will be closed Monday, July 24. General road work taking place throughout the week. Traffic controlled by flaggers. Use Honeywood Street to Walton Lane to Ashbury Drive to avoid delays.

High Pass Road (Milepost 4.0-8.0): Paving and associated work will occur at driveway approaches and along the road shoulder. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Expect delays.

Hills Creek Road: Patching and paving work. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Marion Lane (at River Rd.): General road work. Traffic controlled by flaggers. Use alternate routes to avoid delays.

NW Expressway (Chambers St./River Rd. to Irvington Dr.): Traffic controlled by flaggers due to work in roadway. Expect delays and look for alternate routes.

Poodle Creek Road (Hwy. 126 to Hwy. 36):  Paving and associated work will occur at driveway approaches and along the road shoulder. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Expect delays.

Suttle Road (Territorial Hwy. to Hwy. 126): Paving and associated work will occur at driveway approaches and along the road shoulder. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Expect delays.

West King Road (at Belknap Covered Bridge): Closed Monday, July 24, through Sunday, July 30, for a bridge rehabilitation project, including a new roof. Bridge work will continue beyond July 30 with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Lane County Chipseal Program: Chipseal will be applied Monday through Thursday, depending on weather and materials availability. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Expect 15 minute delays. Seek alternate routes whenever possible.

CITY OF EUGENE:

 

E. 24th Avenue (Hilyard St. to Patterson St.):  The eastbound lane of E. 24th Avenue will be closed at Patterson Street due to excavation and concrete street panel repairs.  Eastbound drivers should consider alternate routes. Westbound traffic is not expected to be impacted.  The lane closure and work are expected Monday through Friday.  Watch for signs.

 

E. Amazon Street (Hilyard St. to Dillard Rd.):   Monday through Wednesday, East Amazon will be closed from Kincaid Street to Dillard Road.  Dillard Road traffic shall detour onto Snell Street.  Please follow traffic laws and speeds.  Thursday and Friday, East Amazon will be closed from Hilyard Street to Dillard Road.  Detours to residences and businesses will be in place.  Flaggers will also be in place.  West Amazon is open.

 

Goodpasture Island Road (Kingsley Rd. to the pedestrian path/bridge by Delta Ponds near dealership row): Crack seal work is expected Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Expect dusty conditions and minimal impact to traffic. Watch for signs and flaggers.

 

Goodpasture Island Loop (Goodpasture Island Rd. to Goodpasture Island Rd.  – entire loop):  Crack seal work is expected Thursday and Friday.  Expect dusty conditions and minimal impact to traffic.  Watch for signs and flaggers.

 

Fern Ridge Path (Bertelsen St. to Beltline Hwy.):  Path is closed until September 30 from Oscar Avenue to Commercial Avenue to construct the Commerce Street Connector Path and bridges.

 

Jefferson Street-Phase 2 (W. 11th Ave. to W. 13th Ave.):  Jefferson Street will be closed from W. 11th Avenue to W. 13th Avenue as the contractor begins Phase 2, which is expected to be complete August 25.  Lawrence Street is the designated detour.  Note that Lawrence Street has been reconfigured to an all-way stop at W. 8th Avenue, Broadway and W. 10th Avenue intersections. 

 

North Harlow Neighborhood (Lydick, Satre, Western, and President streets):  Excavation, concrete, and pipe crews will be working.  Access for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles will remain open.  Please look for signs and cones and reduce speeds for your safety and the safety of the crews.

 

Oakmont Way (Coburg Rd. to Sorrel Way):  Crack seal work is expected Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Expect dusty conditions and minimal impact to traffic.  Watch for signs and flaggers.

 

 

 

LANE TRANSIT DISTRICT WEST EUGENE EmX PROJECT:

 

All businesses remain accessible during construction.  The public can e-mail weemx@ltd.org to request traffic advisory e-mails regarding the West Eugene EmX project.

 

W. 11th Avenue:  Major road construction is finished in West Eugene with occasional lane closures for touch up work and some night paving work, mostly in parking lots. 

 

 

CITY OF SPRINGFIELD:

 

42nd Street and Jasper Road Roundabout (intersection only): The roundabout will be closed for paving rehabilitation work July 31 through August 14.  Detours for local access will be set up.  Message boards will be placed to help local residents and provide information to travelers.  All business access will be maintained.  Expect to use alternative routes and minor travel delays.


Franklin Blvd. (Mississippi Ave. to South Franklin Blvd.): 
Road construction for phase 1 of the new Franklin Boulevard is underway.  The intersection of Franklin Boulevard and South Franklin Boulevard (McVay Hwy. 225) is closed to turns.  Franklin Boulevard will remain open to eastbound and westbound travel.  A detour will be set up using Henderson Avenue and E. 19th Avenue to access businesses located on South Franklin Boulevard near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard.  Work will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Expect lane closures and a detour.

M Street (5th St. to 6th St.): Street closed from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for excavation and replacement of a stormwater channel pipe. Use alternate routes. Two-way traffic will resume during non-construction hours.
