Human Resource staff are available to assist applicants with job counseling, providing information on recruitment processes, feedback on application and interview processes, or simply to answer general questions.  If you are interested in additional information regarding these services, please contact an Analyst at 541/682-2367, 541/682-3805, or 541/682-4104.  In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the County will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified applicants in our recruitment and selection process.  Should you need an accommodation or other assistance please contact our office.  Our TDD phone number is 541/682-3952.

How to Apply

All positions require the completion of an Employment Application, and most positions also require a Supplemental Questionnaire. Be sure to carefully read the recruitment announcement and pay special attention to the experience and training required as well as any special requirement listed. The purpose of the supplemental is to gather specific information about an applicant’s education and experience as it relates to the available position. Because the application and supplemental questionnaire are the main tools used in the screening process, it is essential that all applicants read and follow instructions and supply the requested information as accurately and completely as possible.  It is important to be thorough on all answers to the supplemental questionnaire. Supplemental questionnaire reviewers will not rely on information provided in the application or resume when evaluating supplemental questionnaire responses.  A tip sheet entitled Tips on How to Complete a Successful Job Application and Supplemental Questionnaire for Lane County is available from the Human Resource office for all applicants.  Applications are screened based on experience and training, and the most qualified applicants are referred to the department for interview.

Application Review Process and Notification

Applications are thoroughly reviewed and screened according to the requirements listed in the job announcement.  Competition for County positions is great. We will be reviewing many applications, and we ask for your patience in allowing us to thoroughly evaluate them.  Inquiries are not necessary and may only slow the process; many applicants do not proceed to the interview phase. The hiring department will contact candidates selected for an interview and/or further screening to arrange for a date and time.  This process can take approximately one to three weeks after the closing date, and sometimes longer.  If you are not chosen for an interview you will receive a letter indicating that from Human Resources.   The hiring department will also contact all those interviewed and not selected.  For status updates on recently closed positions, please visit our website at www.lanecounty.org/jobs, or call our job line at 541/682-4473 (press option #3).  If you need more specific information, you may call 541/682-3665.    Thank you for considering Lane County ’s employment opportunities.

County Diversity Commitment

Equal Employment Opportunity & American’s with Disabilities Act

It is the policy of Lane County to adhere to the concept of Equal Employment Opportunity as a basic element of human resource management.  Discrimination on a basis unrelated to the job requirements of the position is prohibited.  Employment and promotion decisions shall comply with state and federal law.  State and/or federal law specifically prohibits discrimination in privileges of employment, except where it constitutes a bona fide occupational qualification. The American’s With Disability Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability.  If you think you will need a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in the application or selection process, please inform Lane County Human Resources.
