A record number of Oregon middle-school students entered the fourth-annual poster search on problem gambling conducted by the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS).

Over 300 posters were entered from around the state, and top 10 posters from each participating region were included in the judging on April 7 in Salem. DHS and its partners judged the entries. Final results will be revealed later this week.

Last year's poster winner was Hollis Gehrett of Eugene, an eighth-grader at Monroe Middle School, and featured a Texas Hold'em poker theme (click here to see last year's winning posters from around Lane County).

Posters were designed to reach friends, family or both, to increase awareness about problem gambling around the state. The winning posters will be printed and disseminated statewide as the theme posters for next year's Problem Gambling Awareness Week campaign.

The student submitting the winning poster will receive a $100 gift card, as will the classroom that submits the most poster entries.
