Lane County Parks is seeking independent contractors with customer service experience to provide quality site management, concessions and caretaking services at Baker Bay Campground and Marina, as well as Camp Lane.

“Our park caretaker contracts are a great opportunity for people who love the outdoors, who enjoy working with a wide variety of people, and who appreciate providing an important public service,” said Lane County Parks Supervising Analyst Charlie Conrad. “Our caretakers are an important part of our county parks system and we hope to attract enthusiastic applicants.”

Baker Bay

Baker Bay is located along the shores of Dorena Reservoir east of Cottage Grove. It includes a 48-site campground, marina, day use area, playground and concessions stand. Baker Bay is a popular park and allows camping from mid-April to mid-October each year. In addition to Baker Bay, the selected caretaker will be responsible for nearby Dorena Covered Bridge Park and Wildwood Falls Park. The selected caretaker will reside in a new home soon to be located on-site at Baker Bay.

Camp Lane

Camp Lane is located 39 miles west of Eugene along Highway 126. It hosts a variety of events, including weddings, family reunions and organizational retreats on a reservation-only basis. The grounds include multiple cabins, lodges and other buildings. It also includes soccer, baseball, basketball and volleyball facilities. The selected caretaker will reside in a home on-site that includes a fenced yard for additional privacy.

The contracts will be for a three-year period from November 1, 2019 through October 31, 2022 with two one-year renewal options available. Applications for both locations are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019.

Applicants with additional questions should contact Charlie Conrad at 541-682-2002.
