Civil Disasters

Civil disasters include active shooter situations and explosions or bombings.

Active Shooter:  An individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area.  In most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.

Many organizations in Lane County, including government agencies and schools, use the ALICE training method of Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate to help prepare for a potential active shooter. Learn more about RUN. HIDE. FIGHT.

Explosions:  Explosions can come in the form of an industrial or other accident, or as the result of a purposeful act. Learn more about being prepared for, responding to and recovering after an explosion.
