Equity and Climate Change

The Lane County Board of Commissioners have acknowledged the Declaration on Human Rights and Climate Change and endorsed the principles contain therein as developed by the Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment.

Local experience and international research has show that frontline communities will be disproportionally impacted by climate change. In order to ensure that Lane County's climate actions work is centered on equity, we have partnered with two local environmental justice organizations, Beyond Toxics and the NAACP of Eugene Springfield.  This partnership acts two ways; Lane County provides them regular updates of the climate efforts and they provide Lane County staff with feedback on environmental justice concerns.

Beyond Toxics and the NAACP of Eugene Springfield are currently recruiting for a
Climate Equity and Resilience Task Force. If you are interested in finding out more, please click the link above.
