Thanks to grant funding provided by the Oregon Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School program, and in partnership with the City of Lowell, Lane County constructed sidewalks to improve safety for children walking to Lundy Elementary, as well as Lowell Senior and Junior High School.

Sidewalks are now constructed on both sides of Main Street between West Boundary Road and Pioneer Street; and on both sides of West Boundary Road streets, between Pioneer Street and Wetleau Street. Additionally, a pedestrian-refuge was installed in the crosswalk at the west leg of the Jasper-Lowell/Pioneer intersection.
