The Public Health Advisory Committee is a Nonmandated Committee. Nonmandated Committees are an advisory body to the Board of Commissioners appointed and charged by the Board with advising on certain areas of County government. The existence of the committee is controlled by the Board, and the members serve at the pleasure of the Board. (Lane Manual 3.505)

Purpose

Makes recommendations to the Director of Health & Human Services and the Public Health Administrator and advises the Board of Health and the Board of Commissioners on matters of public health, planning, policy development, control measures, funding, public education, and advocacy; acts in a community liaison capacity to provide a link between the community and the Public Health Division.

Meeting Schedule

Monthly, typically 2nd Monday of each month; 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. *see the Public Health calendar for precise dates*

Specific agendas for each month are available approximately one week before each meeting. The Public Health calendar will always display the meeting date/time.

Public Comment Practices

The Public Health Advisory Committee (PHAC) welcomes public input on public health matters. The PHAC may ask clarifying questions of the public during the meeting, but it will not make immediate decisions based on public comment; however, the PHAC may take comments under advisement for discussion and action at a future meeting.

Speakers will be taken in the order in which they sign up and will be limited to 3 minutes per comment. Public comment will be limited to 21 minutes. The chair reserves the right to shorten the time allocated to each speaker or extend the time allocated for public comment.

Membership & Current Roster

Twelve (12) members:
  • 5 members shall be appointed by individual Commissioners
  • 2 at-large members shall be appointed by the Board as a whole
  • 5 members shall be "licensed by this state as health care practitioners", also appointed by the Board as a whole
