Dr. Crispen moved to Oregon
in 1985 and initially worked at a rural clinic up the Siuslaw River from
Mapleton. Since then, he has spent most of his career in Oregon. He prides
himself on a personal and holistic approach to healing. Being “present” for
each of his patients and using the traditional “tools” of medicine, such as his
eyes, his ears, and mind is key, as is taking into account the individual’s
social setting and experiences.
He has a special
interest in ADD, ADHD, and other learning and behavioral problems. He has
published a number of medical and biochemical research papers over the last 40
years. He also authored a book chapter published in 2015 on learning problems
in children. Since he began practice in 1980, he has always been focused on
providing health care to those who have less access.
Dr. Crispen is board
certified in pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of
Pediatrics.
Chuck, as he prefers to be
called, enjoys reading, meditation, and the wind on his face. He is
outside whenever he is able, enjoying activities such as birding, listening to
the ocean, and hiking. He cherishes nature and, with an interest in trees among
other things, collected pinecones from nearly every species of evergreen on the
West coast (and a few from New England, too). He has also been an avid
birdwatcher, having traveled to Peru to see the Andean condor among other
adventures.
He is very proud of his four
children and one granddaughter and is actively involved in their lives. He
lives in Eugene with his beautiful wife and two dogs, Floyd and Mezzo.
Dr. Crispen joined Community Health Centers of Lane County in 2016.
