OR-225 (Franklin Blvd) is located in the Glenwood area of Springfield, south of OR-126 (Franklin Blvd). This project will create an engineering design concept for improving the OR-225 corridor, from OR-126 to where it approaches a railroad overpass, which is the south end of City of Springfield jurisdiction (see location map). The project length is approximately 4,400’. This project is owned by the City, but will be delivered by Lane County as an agency certified to deliver Federal-Aid highway projects.
The primary goals of the design concept are to improve safety and accommodate all modes of transportation. The corridor currently lacks bicycle, pedestrian, transit, stormwater, and intersection traffic control facilities. Roundabouts are proposed at E 19th Ave, Nugget Way, and in the vicinity of the southern end of the project. Additional elements include protected bicycle facilities, lighting, and a center median and landscaping that will incorporate stormwater facilities. The design concept will also determine the future design for the underpass at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing just north of E 19th Ave.
An engineering firm will perform the engineering design and environmental studies. For current information and project updates, please see the City of Springfield project webpage.
