Volunteer with Lane County Parks
We’re looking for volunteers who want to help care for our parks, trails, and open spaces. Opportunities vary throughout the year, from one-day events to ongoing projects. Whether you’re interested in joining a group work party or helping in other ways, there are ways to get involved that fit your schedule and interests.
What can I expect when I volunteer?
We will provide tools and safety instruction. Also, there will be opportunity to meet neighbors and fellow residents of Lane County. Volunteer events will range in our parks along the river, natural areas and neighborhood parks and day use areas of our campgrounds.
Also, volunteers donating 10+ hours each year are eligible for a complementary annual Lane County Parks parking pass valued at $40.
Volunteer Opportunities
Park Stewardship Saturdays
We're launching a
new Monthly Volunteer Work Party program to bring the community together in
support of Lane County Parks! Monthly from March to October, volunteers will team up with parks
maintenance staff to tackle beautification and facility improvement
projects such as trail upkeep, landscaping, painting, and other hands-on efforts
that make a real impact.
These events are a
great way to get involved, see firsthand what’s happening in our parks, and
contribute to their ongoing care. Whether you're passionate about the outdoors,
want to give back, or just enjoy working with others, there’s a place for you.

Adopt-a-Park
The Adopt-a-Park Program offers a meaningful volunteer opportunity for both community members and local businesses to collaborate with Lane County Parks in keeping our parks, natural areas, and trails clean. For more information, check out the Adopt-a-Park website.
See our volunteer calendar to join an upcoming work party.
Howard Buford Recreation Area (HBRA)
Lane County Parks manages HBRA in partnership with two non-profit organizations: the Friends of Buford Park and the Mount Pisgah Arboretum. Each of these organizations has regular volunteer opportunities. These organizations track volunteer hours separately and therefore don't count towards the 10+ hours for parking pass.
- The Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah focuses on restoration, conservation and stewardship and volunteers are needed for habitat restoration, working in the nursery, trail maintenance, flood plain restoration, as Park Ambassadors, in the office and for special events. Visit the Friend's volunteer webpage to learn more about days and times.
- Mount Pisgah Arboretum focuses on engaging people with nature through interactive learning and stewardship. Volunteer opportunities are available to teach children about nature, remove invasive plants and maintain trails within the Arboretum management area of HBRA. Volunteers can learn more by visiting the Arboretum volunteer webpage.
Eagle Scout Projects
Lane County Parks welcomes Eagle Scout candidates interested in completing service projects that enhance our parks and recreation areas. Eagle Scout projects often involve construction, habitat improvements, trail enhancements, or visitor amenities that provide lasting benefits to the community.
Because many park projects require site review, permits, environmental considerations, safety assessments, and agency approvals, advanced planning is essential. Scouts are encouraged to contact Lane County Parks well before their project timeline to discuss ideas, identify potential opportunities, and allow sufficient time for review and approval. Early coordination helps ensure projects meet Scout requirements while supporting park needs and protecting public resources.
Campground and Park Hosts
Wake up to beautiful waterfront views and immerse yourself in Oregon’s natural wonders. Hosts play a vital role in keeping our parks welcoming and well-maintained while serving as friendly ambassadors for visitors.
As a host, you'll live on-site in your RV and assist with day-to-day park operations, including visitor services, light maintenance, and keeping facilities clean and beautiful. In return, we provide an RV site in exchange for 20 hours of volunteer service per week.
Seasonal and year-round positions are available at multiple Lane County parks. If you love the outdoors and enjoy helping others, this is a great way to give back while experiencing Oregon’s stunning landscapes firsthand.
