As representatives of Lane County Parks, Volunteer Hosts are indispensable to the success of Lane County campground and park operations and work to support the mission of Lane County Parks: We responsibly manage, sustain, and enhance our parks and natural resources through partnership, stewardship, and quality customer service. 


PARK AND CAMPGROUND HOST APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED YEAR-ROUND.

Volunteer Hosts work approximately 20 hours per week, 5 days on and 2 days off in exchange for an RV site + provide 24-7 site presence.  Host volunteers are provided RV sites, most with full hook-ups, unless otherwise noted.  Applicants must have a fully self-contained RV.


QUALIFICATIONS

All Lane County Parks host volunteers are required to:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Once Contracted
    • Carry personal auto insurance with a minimum of $250,000/$500,000 for bodily injury and property damage liability.
    • If you have a dog, you must provide proof of a current Lane County Dog License.
    • Obtain an ATV license by completing a free online course.
    • Maintain a tidy host site and a professional, approachable appearance.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of the Host Program and Lane County Park Rules.
  • Commitment to a respectful work environment, which is safe and inclusive for all park guests, staff and volunteers.
  • Dedication to honor and keep volunteer commitments.
  • Flexibility and excellent customer service skills.  
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Proficient experience in cash handling preferred
  • Proficient in email and basic computer skills preferred
  • Experience with janitorial and grounds keeping is preferred.
  • Ability to operate duties as assigned.

What are the benefits of being a park host?

Lane County Park Hosts are valued and appreciated.  While contracted, hosts are provided with:

  • RV site; full hook-ups, but may vary by park.
  • Living and working in one of the most beautiful regions in the country.
  • Working with park visitors from diverse of backgrounds.
  • Two days off each week.  
  • Pets of hosts are welcome, and are limited to two pets.  Hosts must observe park pet rules. Host must furnish proof of a current pet license for dogs.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Campsite, Marina and Park Hosts contribute 20 hours of work weekly which supports and supplements the work of Lane County Parks staff and maintenance teams.  While some scheduling flexibility is available, all Hosts are typically expected to work a set schedule which includes weekends, holidays as well as be a nighttime site presence 7 days a week, and be available to respond to emergencies as they arise.

Park Hosts

  • Greet visitors,
  • Answer questions,
  • Hand out information and brochures,
  • Receive visitor feedback,
  • Are readily accessible to the public during park hours,
  • Provide a night-time site presence,
  • Understand and explain County Park Rules to patrons,
  • Open and close site gates,
  • Perform facilities inspections,
  • Prepare day use shelters for rent,
  • Report emergency situations
  • Perform public restroom janitorial services,
  • Campground hosts live in designated sites within the campgrounds and are subject to visits and requests for assistance at all hours of the day.
  • Additional duties as assigned, may include providing support at another campground or park site as needed.

In addition to the core Park Host duties, the following roles have added unique responsibilities

Campsite Hosts

  • Clean campsites and fire pits,
  • Place reservation placards,
  • Utilize a County issued computer,
  • Take campground reservations,
  • Check campground guests in and out upon arrival or departure,
  • Create guest user profiles and notes,
  • Sell Lane County Parks parking passes,
  • Print reports.

Marina Hosts

  • Manage the moorage of boats in the marina area,
  • Utilize a County issued computer,
  • Collect moorage fees and submit weekly deposits,
  • Sell Lane County Parks parking passes,
  • Print reports,
  • Create guest user profiles and notes
