ADA Transition Plan

Overview

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is an equal opportunity law for people with disabilities.  It guarantees that people with disabilities have the same chance as everyone else to take part in the enjoyment of life—to have the same access to employment opportunities, to purchase goods and services, and to participate in state and local government programs and services.

ADA Transition Plan for Public Rights-of-Way

Lane County Public Works is committed to providing safe and equal access for persons with disabilities in our community. In accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Lane County Public Works has created the Lane County ADA Transition Plan for Public Rights-of-Way. This document provides a plan on how Lane County Public Works will remove accessibility barriers from pedestrian facilities that are within the county public right-of-way, including curb ramps, street crossings, and pedestrian-activated traffic signal systems. Lane County Public Works' goal in implementing this transition plan is to become fully compliant with its ADA facilities by providing barrier-free pedestrian accessibility.

Our Engineering and Construction Services in our public Works Department has been working hard creating an inventory of existing facilities, evaluating our facilities, and gathering and considering public input. We're proud to have completed our 2019 ADA Transition Plan for Public Rights-of-Way. Its implementation will be monitored by the ADA coordinator and documented in an annual report of progress.
