Babies First, CaCoon, Healthy Families Oregon, Oregon Mothers Care
Family & Child Health section offers a variety of parent support programs from pregnancy up to age 3. Nurses partner with families during pregnancy to support healthy pregnancy and birth outcomes and support the family in preparing for the new baby. Families can also enroll in services after the birth of their child to support parenting, child development, and assistance in navigating community resources.



This health center receives HHS funding and has federal Public Health Service deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

Family & Child Health Program Descriptions

Family & Child Health Programs include:

  • Oregon MothersCare (OMC) enrolls pregnant people in the Oregon Health Plan faster, provides individual education and support, helps find prenatal care, and assists with finding the right services within Public Health and the community. Contact Oregon MothersCare for more information.
  • Babies First! is an education and support program for people with social or health concerns during pregnancy. After the birth of their child the nurse helps identify children at risk for developmental delays or other health conditions. Nurses provide parents with information to help them overcome or cope with developmental delays and connect with other medical or support services. Visit Babies First.
  • CaCoon (Care Coordination) helps families with accessing needed services to support children that have special health care needs. Visit Care Coordination.
  • Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) partners first-time parents with a nurse early in the pregnancy to receive ongoing visits that continue through the child’s second birthday. Visit Nurse-Family Partnership
  • Healthy Families Lane County (formerly Healthy Start) is a free family support and parent education home visiting program that can start prenatally or after birth and continue until the child’s third birthday. Visit Healthy Families
