Lane County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)

2025 CWPP Update

Lane County is currently updating the 2020 version of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan in collaboration with fire agencies and other stakeholders throughout Lane County.

What is a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)?

A CWPP is a plan that communities create collaboratively with local and state fire protection and land management agencies. The goal of a CWPP is to define and identify a community’s priorities for the protection of life, property, shared assets, and infrastructure in the event of a wildfire.

The CWPP contains actions meant to reduce the risk of wildfires, enhance local ecosystem health, protect vital infrastructure, and increase the safety of residents and first responders in the event of a wildfire. The CWPP planning process creates a valuable opportunity for communities to influence where and how to implement fuels reduction and other wildfire prevention and mitigation strategies.
