Records FAQs:

Do I Have to Pay a Fee for a Records Request?

A vast majority of records requests have a fee attached for the labor of compiling the information. Make sure to check each organization's fee policy.

For court case information, if you do not need a physical or certified copy and just need to look, the library has an Oregon case database computer with an OJIN kiosk.

Municipal courts such as Eugene and Springfield oftentimes have an online search tool that is free. Lane County also has free search program such as the Lane County Easy Property Information Lookup.

How Long Does it Take?

Every organization will have their own policies and procedures, so it is important to check within the individual department or organization.

Oftentimes records requests are not automatic and are done manually, so it is important to prepare for the possibility of a wait.
