North Park Avenue

North Park Avenue
(Maxwell Road to Howard Avenue) is built to urban standards, with bike lane, curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the west side of the street only. The east side of the street has a narrow asphalt shoulder. The center turn lane is functional only at the intersection with Maxwell Road, which narrows to an unused space toward Howard Avenue. This excessive taper width has the potential to be repurposed, such as changing the lane striping and using the extra space to complete the missing improvements on the east side of the street. This would minimize impacts to ten homes abutting the east side of the street; however, there are few physical barriers on that edge, which are mostly shrubbery and utility poles. This project would construct curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the east side of North Park Avenue, between Maxwell Road and Howard Avenue, which also abuts the schools.
